Challenge yourself while raising money for our work welcoming refugees.

What?

  • Set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Bakewell Showground, this trail hiking event offers three incredible route options: Half Marathon, 15K, and 9.1K, each taking you on a journey through some of the most spectacular landscapes in the Peak District.

When?

  • The walk starts at 8am.

Where?

  • The walk starts at Bakewell Showground in Bakewell, DE45 1AH.

Distance?

  • You can choose between 9.1km, 15km, or 21.5km distances.

  • The 9.1km route takes approximately 2 hours to walk.

  • The 15km route takes approximately 3 hours to walk.

  • The 21.5km route takes approximately 4.5 hours to walk.

Why?

  • Upbeat Communities relies on donations from members of the public to fund a great deal of our work. That’s why we’re looking for some enthusiastic fundraisers: to raise vital funds so we can keep supporting refugees at all ages and stages through English classes, support groups, community meals, and much more. These projects offer a lifeline of community and belonging for refugees rebuilding their lives in the UK — but we need your help to sustain them into the future.

Who can take part?

  • The event is open to people aged 17 and over.

  • Those aged 12 or over are also welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult (1 adult per 3 children).

What’s the cost?

  • Upbeat Communities will cover the cost of your entry, but we ask that you give a contribution towards this. Below are the minimum contributions we request for each distance.

  • Entry for 9.1km = £10 minimum contribution

  • Entry for 15km = £15 minimum contribution

  • Entry for 21.5km = £20 minimum contribution

  • Donations can be made via the Upbeat website: upbeatcommunities.org/donate.

How do I sign up?

  • Please use the form below to register your interest, and our team will be in touch with you to discuss the next step of your fundraising journey. We’ll support you every step of the way, so you don’t have to worry if you have never fundraised before.

  • We ask that you commit to trying your best, with our support, to raise £150 towards our work with refugees.
