We’re recruiting for 10 runners to run the Derby 10K to raise money for our work welcoming refugees.

Please note that there are no spaces left on the 10K team, however we still welcome runners for the 3K Family Fun Run! Please fill out your details in the form at the bottom of this page and we will be in touch.

What?

  • The Derby 10K is an annual event held by Derby County Community Trust (DCCT), in which hundreds of people at all ages and stages of life run for fun, or to raise money for different causes. Visit their website for more info.

When?

  • The race will take place on the morning of Sunday 24th March 2024, from 9am-11am.

Where?

  • Derby — starting and ending at Pride Park Stadium.

Why?

  • Upbeat Communities relies on donations from generous members of the public to fund a great deal of our work. That’s why we’re looking for some enthusiastic fundraisers to help spread the word about what we do, and raise essential pennies so that we can keep running English classes, support groups, community meals, support for families and kids, and much more. These projects offer a lifeline of community and belonging for refugees rebuilding their lives in the UK — but we need your help to sustain them into the future.

Who can take part?

  • Anybody who is able. The 10K is suitable for practiced runners — it helps if you have run at least a 5K in the past. If you’re a first-time runner, or have a particular health difficulty that means long distances are not advised, we would highly recommend running the 3K family fun race instead of the main 10K event.

How do I sign up?

  • Please use the form below to register your interest, and our Communications & Fundraising Officer, Maddie, will be in touch with you as soon as possible to discuss the next step of your fundraising journey! She will support you every step of the way, so you don’t have to worry if you have never fundraised before.

  • Upbeat Communities will be happy to pay for your place — but we ask that you commit to trying your best, with our support, to raise £150 towards our work.
